At one time i made my own sinkers. I have accese to machines where i made my own moulds. You also can buy them in catalogs or in somestores.you can buy all types of moulds and acually work better for around $25.00. I still have some of my lead bars i got off my dad but wheel waights work good and melt nicly ,however ther is a lot of impurities that needs scimed of.

When fishing the Surf where the bottom is rocky/snaggy I use old discarded sparkplugs. They are a little more bulky to carry but if you loose one - so what.

when i was a kid we used to melt the led down in a heavy can. pour it into a spoon and drive a small hole in one end of it with an ice pick or nail . also you can make a mould in the sand dig a small hole stick a wire loop up out of it like a paper clip. let it stick up past the top of the hole so you have a place to tie your line. then fill hole with led.

Pouring sinkers is VERY dangerous if you do not know what your doing. Make sure you read all the information on it that you can before you start. Make sure you are in a dry area when you pour and melty lead with no water anywhere around and that you are in a well ventilated area. Lead is nasty stuff.

For molds for pouring your own lead sinkers try visiting here
