at the lake near my house, i catch plenty of soft shells, but i always hook them in their hind leg. what is up with that?

First you cut his head off making sure it cant bite you. Then u flip him over onto his back and take a small axe and cut the shell next to his 4 legs. Then take bottom shell off. You might need a knife to cut bottom shell of if it is your first time. Then u can cut the meat out like any animal. Its pretty easy. There might be a better way but this works for me. Good luck.
